The Island

"Doesn't it ever get annoying?" Natasha asked. She was fortunate enough to have something she could control. But her immortality was a result of the experiments. It was more of a curse than a gift. You can get rid of a gift.

"A little, like you step onto the sand of a beach and scales flare up everywhere, then your feet get wet and your legs only work in the water." Easton said, he'd had problems with that a couple times, "And sprouting extra limbs is never fun." He said, there were two ways he'd had that happen, either a new set grew from somewhere or they grew out from his arms, or legs.

Natasha nodded lightly. "Wow." She said. "I feel sorry for you." She said softly, walking up the slope to her house.

"It comes in handy a lot more than it doesn't though, like falling off a cliff my bones either become solid enough to survive the impact or I grow wings. Then there's being able to swim for as long as you want. So it's not always rain and thunder, I'm sure you had some problems with your powers."

"I guess I did teleport into walls instead of through them for a while." Natasha nodded lightly, smiling a little.

Easton looked a little surprised, "And you survived? Wouldn't you get filled with like, dry rot or something?" he asked.

"No, I mean like someone would if they ran into a wall." Natasha smiled. "I slowly got used to the pain." She laughed.

"Oh," Easton said, laughing with Natasha. "Does it still take more energy to teleport through stuff?" He asked, a little curious.

"Kind of. But I never show it." Natasha smiled. "But if I'm running and I try to telepprt through a wall, I will just simply run into the wall, and land on my butt. Which really hurts." Natasha smiled.

Easton nodded, "So, it's more like you move really really fast, that's kind of funny."

"Yeah, I guess." Natasha smiled a little, fiddling with her fingers, a few strands of her brown hair falling forwards.

"I didn't mean to hurt your feelings." Easton said, thinking he had done that.

"No, its fine." Natasha smiled lightly. "I hope you're not still hungry because the food might be cold." She said, putting her feelings to the side. She tucked the loose strands of hair beind her ear as she opened the front door, letting him walk through first.

"Thank you." Easton said as he walked through, "I wouldn't mind eating cold food." He didn't feel the need to tell her he'd had to eat raw meat a few times when he was living with the foxes.

"Well its up to you if you still want it." Natasha smiled, closing the door. She was full and quite tired, having not slept for a few nights.

Easton wasn't hungry either, so it wasn't a big deal, "I'll put everything in the fridge while you get some sleep." he told her.

Natasha smiled lightly. "Are you sure?" She asked, not wanting him to feel lonely. "I can stay up... if you like." She said, pausing to yawn.

"Yeah, I'm sure, I'll only be a few minutes, then I'll go to bed." he said, already putting the stuff from their plates back into the original containers.

"Ok." Natasha smiled lightly, walking to her room, only to get a blanket, then laying on the couch. She hadn't slept in a bed for a while, and the couch seemed quite comfortable.

Easton set the containers in the fridge and walked down the hall, seeing Natasha sleeping on the couch and not in a bed he found a blanket and slept on the rug, he felt it would be rude to sleep in a bed while his host slept on the couch.

Natasha flinched slightly in her dream, welcomed to another nightmare. She grumbled lightky, gasping quietly.

Easton looked up to her unsure of what he should do, whether to comfort her or try not to invade her privacy.

Natasha curled up slightly, her breathing getting progressively quick, like she was running. Her legs twitched slightly, her eyelids flickering.

Easton thought of something he hurried into the kitchen and found the hot cocoa, he made two mugs and set a marshmallow in each, mostly because they were jumbo. I set them on the coffee table and got two thermal blankets, I folded one neatly while I took the other around my shoulders.

Small beads of sweat formed on Natasha's forehead, a single tiny tear rolling from her eye, she tossing and turning, gasping slightly, her eyes closed tight.
