The Island

Easton drummed his fingers lightly on his mug, he would have to wake up Natasha soon so her cocoa wouldn't get cold. He got the extra thermal and draped it gently around her shoulders after setting his mug on the table. "Hey." He said quietly as he softly squeezed Natasha's shoulders.

Natasha snapped awake with a gasp, gripping his shirt as she looked around with wide, terrified blue eyes, trying to calm down her breathing, letting go of his shirt. "S-.. S-.. Sorry." She stuttered, continuing to glance around, gulping slightly.

"It's okay, and hey, I made us some cocoa." I told her, lightly massaging her shoulder before I went to my seat on the other side of the table.

Natasha nodded lightly, sitting with him. She pulled the blanket tight around her, sipping from her mug. She sure looked terrified. Nightmare's like that were common, and was the soul reason why she didn't sleep.

"You feeling up to talking about it?" Easton asked her, looking in her direction.

Natasha looked up to him, nodding a little, setting her mug down. Holding the blanket tight to her.

"I'm a great listener,"Easton told her, then his face brightened, especially when my ears are bigger." He let them turn into a dogs ears as he showed her.

Natasha watched him, smiling a little, looking down slightly. Pulling her knee's up to her chin, wrapping the blanket around her legs too.

Easton looked at her movements, and sighed silently to himself, he swirled the cocoa in his mug. "You know, I do have memories, not all of them are good, I remember white rooms with doors that opened to every extreme environment imaginable, back when I was too young to really understand or remember anything I was pushed into the different rooms promised candy if I could find it, at first they were easy to find, then they became harder until I stopped finding them all together, I'm still not sure if there was candy in every single test."

"My reward was the hope for death each experiment they did. My punishment was to live another day through another experiment." Natasha said quietly, staring into nothing, but she was still listening to him. "I kept loosing." She added.

"During one of the tests I found a hole, I think it was a garbage chute of some kind, I don't know. Anyway I crawled inside and fell when I woke up again someone was running with me in their arms." Easton said, he watched his cocoa while he spoke.

Natasha simply nodded, staring at her hands, her eyes closing slightly though she kept them open, she sipping her cocoa.

"He brought me here, to the island, that's all I can remember." He didn't have as many terrible memories as Natasha did.

Natasha had lived for far longer than Easton, and was five when she was taken to be experimented on. And since tomorrow was her birthday, it would also be the 120th anniversary of the day she was taken. Having been taken at her own birthday party whilst her family stood and watched.

Easton sighed, "I'm sure you experienced far worse, and for longer, but just because we are able to do more things than normal people doesn't mean it will make our lives any easier." He told Natasha, trying to make her feel better.

Natasha nodded lightly. "I know." She said quietly, appearing next to him, leaning against him. "I want to forget it all." She murmured.

"I do to, but the man who raised me told me our memories make us who we are. How many mistakes would you have made if you weren't so cautious around people.

"I don't know.." Natasha said quietly. "But sometimes I need someone. I give myself headache's with all the talking." She added.

Easton looked to her "you talk to yourself, or just Solomon?" he asked

"Sometimes to myself.. I don't realize at first.. but I feel weird after.. but there's never anyone to think I'm crazy." Natasha told him.

Easton nodded, "I'd sometimes talk to the animals, most of them just gave me looks before they ran off." he didn't really have anyone either.

Natasha nodded. "Well I can't run away from myself, so.." She shrugged with a small smile.

Eaton smirked, "yeah I guess you're right."

Natasha managed a small laugh. "How come you manage to cheer me up so quickly?" She asked with a smile, looking to him.

"I dunno' Easton shrugged, "Maybe because I don't try?" he honestly had no idea why.
